COMENTARIO BIBLIOGRÁFICO

El Diccionario de Términos del Calzado e Industrias Afines, segundo de
la serie de DICCIONARIOS DE TERMINOLOGIA INDUSTRIAL de la Editorial
Ariel, pretende abarcar la terminología de la industria del calzado y
la de sectores relacionados, como son la química, el textil, el cuero,
incluyendo la maquinaria o los procesos de producción.
Este diccionario contiene dos partes, inglés-español y español-inglés,
con casi 12.000 entradas cada una de ellas. La gran mayoría de las
entradas léxicas consta de cuatro componentes: (a) la traducción de
los términos; (b) la explicación, consistente en un sucinto comentario
aclaratorio del significado del término, sus límites y sus usos; (c)
la ilustración o breve ejemplo, que sirve de orientación contextual
del significado; y, (d) las remisiones, cuyo objetivo es ofrecer
palabras relacionadas, que ayudan a fijar el significado del término y
orientan hacia otras vinculadas con éste. El objetivo es hacer
posible que el usuario establezca con exactitud el significado de cada
entrada combinando estos cuatro parámetros apuntados.


The Dictionary of Terms of the Footwear and Allied Industries is the
second in the series of DICCTIONARIES OF INDUSTRIAL TERMS published by
Editorial Ariel. It is designed to cover the specialist terminology
in use in the footwear and associated industries, such as the
chemicals, textiles and leather sectors, including machine parts and
processes.

The dictionary contains an English-Spanish and a Spanish-English
section, each with close to 12,000 lexical items. Most of the entries
consist of four elements: (a) the translation of the item listed; (b)
an explanation in the form of a brief comment intended to clarify the
sense, use and range of the term; (c) a short example or illustration
providing a contextual setting for the meaning given; and (d) a set of
reciprocally arranged cross-references to help to refine the
definition of the term by directing attention to others of related
meaning. The overall aim is to enable the user to pinpoint the meaning
of each of the items listed as precisely as possible by combining
these four parameters.
